Workshop
12 November 2007

We had an amazing three days at the 2nd Chichester Writing Festival this weekend. Several of our creative writing students told us about forthcoming publications - because they are excellent writers - including one who documents his progress at timstretton.blogspot.com.

It's all prompted us to update the pages in the section of this site that we call Kate's Workshop.

The first available course is:

How to Write a Novel
Sunday 9 December - Friday 14 December 2007

How to Write a Novel is a huge challenge but one that our students have met before in an enjoyable, intense and hard working full week at West Dean College.

In the New Year - can it be only 49 days away? - we have a re-run of our beginner to intermediate program, based on three distinct weekend courses which can - if necessary - be taken individually. They are:

Compelling Story Writing 1 - Plot & Character
Friday 29 February - Sunday 2 March 2008

Compelling Story Writing 2 - Location, Dialogue & Revision
Friday 28 March - Sunday 30 March 2008

Compelling Story Writing 3 - Suspense, Style & Synopsis
Friday 4 April - Sunday 6 April 2008

I've started to get mail about Sepulchre, particularly about the characters that I have been living with for so long. It has been fantastically rewarding to discover that other people at last feel a connection with Léonie and Anatole Vernier, Meredith Martin and Victor Constant.

Meanwhile, I've begun to have an inkling of what I might work on next. Of course, it will have to wait for the Sepulchre launch publicity to die down but then ...

You will read it here first in the Sepulchre.
