The Craft of Writing 1 - Plot
The Deadline for this Course has Passed
A
one-day course for just 6 students, led by Greg Mosse, from 11h00 to
17h30 on Saturday 26 May 2007, at West
Dean College in West Sussex.
Course description
An intriguing plot is the most likely route to writing successful fiction; problems with plotting are probably the most common reason for failing to finish a potentially excellent novel. This intensive one-day workshop is designed to address this with a small group of students, working individually and collaboratively. It is a sequence of three practical sessions:
Session 1
Creating intriguing plotlines, based on convincing characters; including examples from published fiction and ideas generated by the group.
Session 2
Delaying tactics; maintaining suspense; not giving things away.
Session 3
Story arcs; the sweep of a whole novel and the brief crescendos within it; parallel plots and subplots.
